The Worst Season of All

A tear runs down my eye
Something awful has happened today
It occurs every year
Around the month of May

The sniffles are back
The sadness is worse
I can’t do anything about it
An annual curse

Put the drops in
Reality starts to begin
The hardest part of the year
There is nothing more I fear

I can’t do this no longer
This is such a bummer
Why can’t we just skip spring
And go directly to summer?

Cannot stop rubbing
My headache is throbbing
Can’t even breathe any more
Just hope it starts stopping

Coming home with aches
Fevers giving me the shakes
Just can’t wait till summer
When the hot sun bakes

There will be fun for all
Can’t even make an analogy
To how good it will feel
When there are no allergies!

Those dreaded days will come again
And I will still be crying again, old friend
But the best days are soon to come
Until next year’s allergy season

''Don't Write about a trip to Puerto Rico'' -Mr. Weinstein

Puerto Rico, Summer, 2013
My family and I burst on to the hotel scene
Every rainforest, shop, and restaurant we passed
I hoped this vacation would forever last

It was our fifth day there, two more to go
Dad wanted to go to a café
Recommended by Coach Jay
The name of the place was Isla Verde

It was rumored to have the most flavorful foods
However the trip would soon turn very crude
As we started the journey on foot
I knew this would end in a big kaput

I saw some taxis and told my dad to take one
But he said ‘’no this walk will be fun’’
I claimed that he was full of lies
‘’Shut up, you need some exercise!’’

Over two hours into the walk
It was so hot no one could even talk
Sun was starting to go down
There was no sight of the nearest town

Looking up in despair at the palmettos
We had just walked into the Puerto Rican ghetto
No taxis, anywhere
If we died here I just wouldn’t care

God answered our prayers and sent a cab
I was just so frustrated; this day was such a drag
Went home and got right in bed
Never walking anywhere again, no matter what anyone says
